Essential Oils and Safety

Image
Essential oil diffusers are excellent tools to get beneficial essential oils into the air, where their effects can be felt. They have long been used in aromatherapy treatments as they help to cleanse the air and promote soothing feelings in the environment. Although they are usually used for either aesthetic or therapeutic purpose, they also boast some amazing health benefits!         Some people use essential oils topically, others use them internally (although directly consuming many essential oils can be toxic), or inhale them. With essential oil diffusers, you get to control what oils are dispersed in the air, for how long, and in what concentration. For people who want to take a more active role in their own health, and prefer a natural, proven method with only a few side effects, purchasing an essential oil diffuser is an excellent choice.     Most essential oils are safe and free of adverse side effects when used proper...

The Ultimate Guide for Choosing the Right Wax Warmer

Image
Wax melts offer fragrances similar to scented candles , without a wick and potentially without a flame. Wax melts release fragrance as they get warm and begin to melt. The heat source may be a light bulb, electricity or a tealight candle, depending on the type of receptacle used to warm the wax in your wax tart warmer. Some warmers require wax melts or tarts of a specific size, so be sure to check the device before purchasing scented wax melts.     Inspect the bowl portion of the wax warmer and wipe it out with a paper towel to remove dust. Set the bowl atop the burner base, if the pieces are separate. If the bowl is cracked or has any holes in it, it is not safe, and the warmer should be replaced.     Place a wax melt inside the bowl of the warmer. If the melts are small and the warmer’s bowl is comparatively large, add another melt of the same fragrance.         How to Clean Wax Warmer Pot like A Pro?   W...

How Does an Electric Diffuser Work?

Image
Electric aromatherapy diffusers are a bit less effective in spreading a strong aroma, however they tend to do a good job at spreading a weaker aroma throughout a larger room.   These types of diffusers may be a bit more expensive than other types that might only use a flame, for the simple purpose that it’s a more complex system and takes money to manufacture.   For those who are interested in being more environmentally friendly with their aromatherapy needs, it might be a better idea to stay away from the electric types and use a diffuser that uses heat. Also, electric fan aromatherapy diffusers aren’t silent, which might be a problem for some people who use aromatherapy for relaxation purposes.       Another form of aromatherapy diffuser is called an atomizer. When you’re thinking about how an atomizer works, think about a bottle of perfume and how that works.   The essential oil is pushed through a small screen that breaks up ...

How to Diffuse Essential Oils and No More Mistake

Image
You have this fancy new device that everyone told you about, and now you have no idea what to do with it. Question number one is always how many drops of essential oil go in a 100 ml diffuser?   Don’t worry you aren’t alone! A lot of people new to essential oils and diffusers have these questions and we’re here to answer them.   While most boxes will instruct you to use tap water it isn’t the best choice or your system. For long-term system health, use filtered water.   Why? Well, this drops the rate of build-up that you’ll eventually see in the diffuser.         Much like a humidifier, there is a lot of water going through a small, heated, device. This means that the cleaner water you start with, the cleaner your diffuser will stay!   When you’re setting up your diffuser there should be either a fill line or a cup with a fill measurement. Load it up with water and plug your diffuser in. The hard part is already do...

How to Get Rid of Wrinkles under Your Eyes

Image
“If sleeping with your face in a pillow is a nightly routine, then you can develop permanent sleep lines. And you don’t have to plunge head first to get these lines; even years spent sleeping on your side can cause wrinkles.”   ~ American Academy of Dermatology   But there is hope …   “Sleep lines or wrinkles” are caused by the repeated scrunching of our face into our pillow while we sleep. These lines tend to by more vertical then expression lines and can be found on forehead, cheeks, chins etc. They also become increasingly permanent as we age and lose the elasticity we had in our youth.       Dr. Samuel Stegman, a well know cosmetic dermatologist, was one of the first to observe that most people tend to exhibit strong facial creases and imbalances on the side they prefer to sleep on. He would surprise his clients by telling them which side they slept on. Sleeping on their sides (and therefore their faces) was causing “sleep wr...

How long does scent last in wax warmer?

Image
Less is More! You’ve probably heard this saying many times. Well, it’s true when talking about wax warmers . We often get asked “how long does your wax cubes last?”   This is a hard question to answer, as there are many contributing factors. We test all our fragrances using a 25 watt bulb warmer and a tea light warmer. Placement is key. Keep your warmer away from fans and drafts.   I used to think it would help circulate the aroma, but that is not the case. I also used to think that I would increase the scent throw by adding additional wax to “old” wax to “freshen it up”. That doesn’t work. Always empty your wax when the scent has fully evaporated.         So we’re back to the question “how long does your wax cubes last?” We average approximately 16 hours for two cubes in a 25 watt warmer. Believe it or not, we get an awesome throw from our little tea light warmer.   Our wax melts are heavily scented because this particula...

How Much Essential Oils Should I Add to The Diffuser?

Image
Knowing how much essential oil to add to a diffuser starts with knowing how to use one. They are very simple to use, even though there are different models. In general, they should be placed up high to allow maximum dispersal.   Even though each model may have some differences, they are simple to set up. Take the diffuser out of the box and remove any packaging materials. Set the bottom portion on a shelf or table. Plug the cord into an outlet and place the top on snugly. Here are the simple steps when you are ready to use it for the first time.   Remove the lid or the top portion of the diffuser. Fill the bottom portion with water up to the fill line. Add the recommended drops of the oil you want to diffuse. Put the top back in place. Turn the diffuser on.   You will also want to clean the diffuser occasionally. To clean it, unplug it and dump any leftover water out of the reservoir. Use a small brush or soft cloth to wipe the inside out. Rin...
