Shift Your Mindset to Refresh Your Day

Image
We’ve all had those days: nothing is going right and we’re frustrated and wanting to just give up, go back to bed, and stay there for a week. I know I gave into that desire to run and hide and ignore the world too many times in 2020, and I don’t want that to be how I spend 2021. I’m still working from home—gladly, I would add. But being at home all the time lets me sink into self-sabotage a lot more often than if I had to go out into the world more regularly. When I’m home, I’m in my comfort zone. Any goals or ideas for the day that I had in mind can go quickly out the window when a few things don’t go according to plan. If I had plans to workout, for example, but the dog is being difficult and I ran out of coffee that morning, I quickly abandon my plan because my couch is so much more inviting and Netflix is a click away. My mindset goes directly from “personal progress and development” to “heck it all, I’m going back to bed.” And my mind is sneaky about it: When I s

Have you found the COVID-15? Plug in a new start with some good smells.

You’ve heard the joke  about the freshmen 15. Freshman  goes to college  in the fall . Returns  in spring 1 5 pounds heavier.    Between the  cookie jar ,  free-range use of the kitchen,  a broken scale and  a lost key  to the treadmill,  t hese days   people are talking about the  COVID- 15,  not the year, but the pounds that can happen when you are stuck inside, left alone with food and a batch of freshly made anxiety.    And  no tongue in cheek  intended here. Thousands have suffered great loss due to circumstances we cannot control.  It is  with  humility  that we may  need to acknowledge  our  anxiety  and imp ulsive  eating   may  have led to  some  extra  pounds.  We can’t be blamed.    We could easily  be  filling up on anxiety. How do we bounce back?    Maybe filling   our  sense of smell with non-calorie activity  can help .    Smells  have a pronounced effect on the brain’s limbic system  where mood  is delivered . What Really Happens in the Bathroom…And Essential Oils to Make it Better

Image
Remember that wet wipes commercial where the woman says, “It’s time we talk about what really happens in the bathroom” and then she recounts the woes of toilet paper that doesn’t really get you clean down there? Well, instead of talking about that part of what “really happens in the bathroom,” let’s talk about how you can keep the bathroom smelling fresh with all natural essential oils after all that stuff that “really happens,” well, happens…Sound good? Cool. So, first thing’s first: Let’s talk about how to clean the essential, yet smelly room with essential oils . Your sink and bathtub drains can get smelling a little stale after a while. Easy fix! Just put a few drops of Sweet Orange and Lavender essential oils in your sink and bathtub drains, let it sit for a few minutes, then run some water to push the oils through the pipes. Need a little “draino” action? Use baking soda, cleaning vinegar, and Sweet Orange essential as a homemade “liq

Essential Oils for Your Mood: Energetic Frequencies & Our Health

Image
As we’re making our way out of the cold winter months, I could really use a pick-me-up in my mood. I feel stressed from constantly shielding myself from the cold and from being holed up inside because the weather outside is so frigid. I never feel fully myself toward the end of the winter. I feel rough and negative—not at all vibrant. I’ve learned a lot recently about how stress can damage our bodies and cause harm to our immune systems. I’ve read about the energy frequency in the human body and the effect of aromatherapy on that energy frequency. Here’s a summary of what I’ve learned: Illness occurs when our bodies are vibrating at a low frequency, and stress lowers our frequency below a healthy frequency and puts us at greater risk of developing illness and disease. A healthy body frequency is between 62-70 MHz. When we’re stressed, our energetic frequency begins to lower until we are at a frequency lower than 62 MHz and we become ill. The food we consume has an ef

Uitwaaien and hygge for your well-being. Walk into the wind, then cozy up.

If you live anywhere north of U.S. Interstate 80, which runs across the country, you know it hasn’t stopped snowing for months. Nor has it melted. And with snow and the cold it brings, irregular weather patterns bring wind. A lot of it. If you live in the Midwest, the windiest states in the U.S., you know that windy weather is always available. And this blog is for you. It appears the Netherlanders have a philosophy of walking head-on into the wind to relieve stress. Without knowing the Dutch have a name for it, I have one girlfriend (only one) that will walk into the wind with me. We like to imagine all of that full frontal wind is buffing us into a facial. Sometimes the wind gets so strong where we live that it blows our hair straight back, to the point that we aren’t even moving forward. We’re teeth gnashing, yelling at the wind, like “c’mon is that all you got?!” Then we give into it, and walk backwards for relief. “Uitwaaien” is the Dutch word for walking strai

Spring Cleaning with Essential Oils

Image
This year, I can’t WAIT for Spring to arrive. It has been a long, cold winter. After the holiday cheer and the new year refreshing and the cozy-by-the-fire feelings wore off, my home felt heavy with cold, negative energy. I enjoy snow and the chill in the air for a few weeks—or even a few months—but where I live, when the wind chill turns frigid and it’s snowing every other day, I’m sick of it (and seriously thinking about moving south) by the time the month of March arrives. And being sick of the weather always makes me feel grumpy, cooped up, and pessimistic. When the first day of Spring finally rolls around this month, I’m planning to deep clean and freshen everything in my home. Rather than buy a bunch of heavy-duty chemical cleaners that smell too strong and make me feel like I have to wear a gas mask just to use them, I’m simply going to use Belle Aroma ® Essential Oils with my regular cleaners to add a little boost to my cleaning routine and clear out that st
