Make Your Time Outside (and Inside) More Pleasant with Essential Oils
Summertime is here again and all my favorite outdoor activities came with it: camping, bonfires, grilling, hiking, swimming…
I love being outside in the summer. Unfortunately, certain outdoor pests tend to flock my direction when I’m outside…and I don’t love that.
I also love being out in the heat when I’m by the lake or a pool, but I don’t love when my A.C. at home conks out and I’m sweating around the clock.
Thankfully, I have Belle Aroma® Essential Oils from TheGiftofScent.Com to help take care of those outdoor problems! Here’s how essential oils can help make your outdoor activities and your indoor spaces more pleasant this Summer:
First, let’s tackle the pesky pest problem. Essential oils are powerful combatants against common outdoor pests. These are some of my favorite essential oils and how to use them to repel insects when you’re outside this Summer.
Lemongrass
Lemongrass is one of the best essential oils to help repel mosquitoes and other insects. It is in the citronella family, so it is one of the most common oils found in candles, sprays, and lotions that help deter mosquitoes.
Diffuse lemongrass essential oil outside in your seating areas, or put a couple drops on diffuser jewelry to wear when you’re outdoors.
Lemongrass pairs well with peppermint and sweet orange essential oil for a pleasant smelling diffuser blend that also helps deter outdoor pests.
Lavender
Lavender contains linalool, which is a type of terpene alcohol that is effective at repelling mosquitoes. It can also help repel fleas, moths, and other insects. It is common to see lavender planted near sitting areas and entryways.
Diffuse lavender essential oil in outdoor spaces, put it on diffuser jewelry, or put it in a glass spray bottle with distilled water to spray around you when you’re outside.
Combine lavender, sweet orange, and peppermint for a powerful and pleasant smelling essential oil blend that is perfect for summer.
Peppermint
Many insects hate the aroma of peppermint, which makes it a perfect essential oil for repelling insects. Peppermint can help repel ants, spiders, mosquitoes, and even mice.
Diffuse peppermint with lemongrass or lavender or add to your glass spray bottle to help repel insects around you when you’re outside.
Try 3 drops peppermint, 3 drops lavender, 3 drops lemongrass, and 2 drops sweet orange essential oil in your ultrasonic diffuser for a potent pest-repelling blend.
Another way to help make your summer experience more pleasant is by building your own portable air conditioner! If your A.C. stops working when the heat gets overbearing, you can use this portable air conditioner to cool down at least one room in your home. Or, take it on the go with you when you go camping!
Learn how to make your own personal indoor air conditioner out of PVC Pipe, a 5-gallon bucket, a fan, and ice by watching this YouTube video here.
And to make your portable A.C. even colder, add a few drops of peppermint to the ice. The menthol in the peppermint essential oil is cooling as well, so your DIY A.C. will feel extra chill. Plus, peppermint essential oil will add a pleasant aroma to your space while it cools you down!
You can also add a couple of ice cubes and peppermint essential oil to your diffusers that use water to make your own personal A.C.
Enjoy the outdoors this summer with essential oils to help keep pests away and make your living space as comfortable as possible. Get all the Belle Aroma essential oils you love from TheGiftofScent.Com.
